Founded on 11 September 2001 by Dr. M.R. Doreswamy, PESIMSR was built on a single conviction: rural Andhra Pradesh deserved a medical college and hospital equal to any in the country.

Our History
PESIMSR is the brainchild of our Founder Chairman, Dr. M.R. Doreswamy — his dream to establish a medical college and hospital with modern facilities in service of the rural population of Rayalaseema.
Today it stands as the most modern medical college in the Rayalaseema districts of Andhra Pradesh, educating budding doctors while delivering state-of-the-art care to the local population and to patients from the bordering districts of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
PESIMSR is a permanently recognized medical college under the MCI and the Government of India's Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, offering both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

India ranks 11th in the world by the size of its economy, yet 162nd by GNP per capita. As the country moves through an epidemiological transition, infectious disease is receding while lifestyle-driven conditions — cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, neurological disorders — are rising sharply.
The World Bank's Health Sectoral Priority Review projected a doubling of cardiovascular mortality in India between 1985 and 2015. PESIMSR exists as a direct response: a college that reflects the care, concern and commitment of the PES Group to societal well-being.

Three requirements, assessed in sequence, before a candidate is admitted to the program.
Two years of Intermediate Education from the Board of Intermediate Studies, Hyderabad, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects — or an equivalent examination recognized by NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada.
Not less than 50% of total marks in science subjects combined at the qualifying examination, with proficiency in English considered essential.
Candidates must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission.
Academic progress is assessed through internal assessments and examinations in theory, practical and clinical work at the end of every semester, followed by a compulsory one-year rotating internship before registration as a qualified physician.
